Macbook Battery Bulged

I have a MacBook 2005 with the battery bulged a lot. The mac is obviously out of warrenty, I was looking around online and I saw people saying that Bulged battries can be replaced by apple for free even when your warrenty is over. Is this true?

People are saying its part of a recall/ prevention after the debacle a couple years ago.

Here is one of the sites that says it:

Good luck I have the same problem. Made an appointment at 2 differe Apple Stores. Both wanted to charge. First one said it would be $130 for a new battery + $79 for a new Charger. Than they couldn't get it to boot without the battery and said it would be $280 to fix it that it probably has a bad Logic Board. The second Apple Store replaced the charger since it was flagged as being recalled. Something the first didn't bother to do. Then said it would be $99 or $100 to replace the battery. So neighter excepted that it was faulty. Both insisted there was no recall. When I printed out the information from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4127 and took it to the second apple store they went ahead and only replaced the charger itself. Only actual charger not the plugs that go into the outlet either. I also printed out http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/ At both locations I was told that the battery swelling was normal. And they tried telling me it's just something that happens over time and tried to compare it to other types of batteries. Like batteries in a remote or in a car. So they refused to do anything to fix it. Horrible customer service. So now I have a 2006 Macbook that was purchased in 2007 that I can't do anything with now.
