Q: iCloud mail on Kindle Fire

Just got a Kindle Fire. Trying to access my account on icloud.com to manage my mail with the Fire's browser has proved problematic. icloud gives an unsupported zoom level message and though I can select messages and view them in the preview pane, the action icons (delete, reply, etc.) won't operate. Chatted with 6 Amazon T/S people to no avail. Anyone had any luck, either accessing icloud.com on the Silk browser or setting up the Kindle e-mail App to access and deal with iCloud mail?

Yes you can manually configure the Kindle Fire email app to send and receive your iCloud email.

    1. Setup your mail manually and choose "IMAP" for your account type.

    2. Here are the iCloud settings. Be sure to choose the proper ports as specified here:

    Incoming server settings

    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:

    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password

Outgoing server settings - IMPORTANT, choose the "TSL" for Authentication type on this screen.

    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:

    • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 587
    • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
    • Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password

    Thanks Barry,

I returned the Fire and got an iPad, so I can't try your solution.

When I use IMAP server: imap.mail.me.com I get an error "Setup could not finish. Username or password (or server name) incorrect. AuthenticationFailedException: Command: *sensitive*; response: #2# [NO, [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED], Authentication, failed] ImapException: Command: *sensitive*; response: #2# [NO, [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED], Authentication, failed]

In the outgoing setting, you only put in your user name minus the @me/mac.com,

therefore, if your user name is JohnXXX@me.com, or JohnXXX@mac.com, you would enter JohnXXX.

There is no TSL authentication option on outgoing server settings for my (new) Kindle Fire.  The only options are:

    AUTOMATIC

    PLAIN

    CRAM_MDS

I've tried all of these and continue to get this message:

"We were unable to verify the provider's certificate.  Would you like to accept the certificate or decline and try again?"

When I press "Accept" it just comes back with the same message over and over again, until I press "Reject" and it takes me back to the screen.

    Thanks for any help!

The TLS setting is under "security type," not "authentication type."  My settings look like this (and works):

    smtp.me.com

    TLS (always)

    587

    check (for required sign in)

    automatic

    [user name]

    [password]

    Good luck!
