Ipod touch won't shuffle. Keeps playing same song over and over.

After touching the shuffle button, my ipod touch just keeps playing the same song over and over, unless I manually press the forward button.

How do I get it to shuffle?

Not sure where you're looking on your iPod, but this thread is discussing the iPod as it was more than five years ago, and since then, the interface has changed considereablty.

Assuming that you have a recent iPod Touch (such as the 6th generation one), you need to switch to the Now Playing screen and drag the screen upwards. (You need to be on the open Now Playing screen, not the Lock Screen playing screen). Below the transport controls (the Play, Forward and Reverse buttons), is the volume control and below that (once you drag the screen upwards) are the Shuffle and Repeat buttons.

It's actually not possible to miss them: the buttons are in light grey with red text on them when the control is off. If your iPod is set to English, the buttons have a symbol and text on them. The Shuffle button (on the left) has the word Shuffle and the shuffle icon (which is shaped like the one shown here, but in red):

If the control is on, the button is in red and the symbol and text are in white. Tap it to turn it off.

The Repeat button looks similar to the one shown below:

... and has the word Repeat on it.

Again, if the button is in red and the symbol and text are in white, the control is on. Tap it to toggle between Repeat, Repeat 1 and Off.

Repeat 1 will have the number "1" in the arrows, a little bit like this one:

Start playing a song, any song.

Tap on the album artwork area for the song playing to bring up the scrubber for the song.

The shuffle icon/selection is located at the right of the scrubber, and the repeat icon/selection is located at the left of the scrubber. If repeat is on, the color of the icon will be blue. Select the icon until the color of the icon is white, which means repeat is off.

Ipod touch won't shuffle. Keeps playing same song over and over.
