Hi mustafafde, all you have to do is:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click on Notifications
  3. Click on App Store (It should be on the list below NOTIFICATION STYLE)
  4. De-select Allow Notifications

After following these steps, there should be no more little red bubble with the number. Just remember that you will have to check the app store for updates periodically because you will not be notified if there is a current update anymore.

Hope this was helpful 🙂

wow, havent heard of this....best guess sync it to your computer...back it up to icloud...hard reset...i dont know if master reset is where you turn off and plug into the computer. but a Hard reset as i was told is to hold down home and sleep/wake untill it shut off (not till it says slide to turn off). Just hold down untill black screen. then turn on.

They probably the same thing so, sorry. it would bug the crap out of me too.

The OP to whom you are responding wrote the question almost 5 years ago now, so I don't think they are still looking for an answer. In addition, the question asked was not about the update badge for the App Store app, it was asking about the update badge that appears on the Settings icon when there is a new iOS update. There is no way to turn that off....

You are correct - Usually, under "Notifications" you can choose to shut off "Badges" for various apps and functions - "Badges" are the little red marker with the number on it. There is no way to shut off the "Badge" for notifications for iPhone IOS updates - I checked all over. I have IOS 5 in there and it is telling me, I have IOS 5.01 already downloaded ready to install, and the number "1" is always showing on the "Settings" 'app'.

In the Notification Centre, there is no setting for the Settings setting!

It's kind of irritating, I usually shut off all badges and all push notification/irritations.

I have not updated and usually don't until a release has been out for a while and I'm sure there are no major issues ( Apple does not provide a method for me to roll back). So I find this very irritating, it's enough to make me take a look at jailbreaking since they have a method to turn this off.

Dear APPLE this stinks, please hire some usability people so you don't do arbitrary things and **** off your customers

oh yes there is....was able to figure it out!

How do you stop a software update on Iphone?

Step 1: Go to Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage. Step 2: Select “iOS 8.0.1.” Because it is over 1GB, it is probably towards the top of your list. Step 3: Tap Delete Update, and tap Delete Update again to confirm.
then just do a hard reset and it will go away! it just worked for me! it wanted me to update to IOS 10.....**** no! lol
