How to replace audio on a music video with final cut pro x

How do I replace low quality audio on a music video to a higher better quality audio with final cut pro x?

I have the new audio on cd which I can rip and replace the original audio.

Some audio and music videos are not of same length, In cases like this how do I sync video to the newly replaced audio?

Is there any tutorial, link or where to look for this in the manual?

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Final Cut Pro X, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I do this for my Church video's. Put the video on the timeline. separate video, and audio as instructed before.

Go to the end of audio or music line, push it all the way back to zero, then delete any audio, or music left. then i pop up iTunes go to where the cd was put on my recent audio, or music recorded.Pull it down to the video. Hit the Cmd+R, it should or be close to sync your audio or music together. if not use the razor blade to make an adjustment.

as far as i know this is not on you tube or instructions.it took me 2 days of trial and error before i finally got it to work. it just takes minuets now !

To my knowledge the only way I can think of doing this it to place your video on the timeline, cut the video on exactly the first beat and then a few beats after. Then place your cd audio on the timeline and cut the cd audio on exactly the same beats. Your next process would be to line up both video and cd audio and retime the video to match. Pressing CMD+R on your keyboard will bring up your retiming tool, then just simply stretch the video to horizontally match. I can't garuntee this will work but give it a shot.

Thank you for the reply Tony.

Are there any video tutorial, links or where to look for this in the manual?

Even free and paysites video or any kind of tutorial ex: Lynda.com, groove3, macprovideo, You Tube etc?

May I know which part of the manual covers this process.

Most replacemant audio are exact match except some audio are 12 inch mixes/remixes sometimes are of different length/duration.

I am trying to get to how to cut and sync the Music Video to the beat of new audio.

I can hardly imagine how to accomplish this task ....-

To make an audio track 'fit' to a given video of diff. length, you can easiely use Quicktime Pro's 'Paste Scaled' feature which automatically adjust the lengths. Or tools like the free QTsync

but ...

best to my knowledge, music-videos often have their very own mix - so, to add a CD's track to a given video means heavy editing ... FCPX' built-in Help gives a few hints to the keyword 'beats'.

Thank you for the replies.

Yes in most cases, I am trying to re-time, and reedit the video to match the audio.

In some cases I would like to use 12"/remixed audio which I have edited in Logic Studio to replace the Music Video's original audio.

In some cases I use my own edits & remixes. Most of the time it will be original audio version from cd.

I am doing this for my Music Video DJing ( Video DJ ).

I need to remove all conversations and other unwanted audio to make it music only in the music video.

I am also trying to have the highest quality audio I can get, on to the music video to perform it live.

In some cases I enhance, extend or edit and remix the audio.

Most retro music videos have got very bad video and the audio is worse.

I am a Logic Studio user and I just got FCPX over all other programs available out there.

I thought there must be an easy way on Final Cut Pro but now I could only purchase Final Cut Pro X.

I guess I have to go the heavy editing route in Final Cut Pro X.

There are many tutorials for Vegas Pro available though and I know users who do what I want to do all the time.

I am thinking now maybe it will be easier in Vegas Pro.

I must have a look at Avid and Adobe Premiere and other programs to see if there is one program that is easy to use for this purpose and delivers hight quality audio/video.

Providing you don't need the video synced or cut to a beat, all you need to do is place your music in the primary storyline

Connect your video above.

While your video is connected, hit CMD+R on your keyboard and stretch the video to the length of the music

If you were to cut the video to a beat, simply add markers on your music track, then connect and trim clips to your markers.
