How do I add a contact without syncing?
I have many more contacts on my Mac than I would like on my phone. I just got a new friend's phone number, and I would like to add the information without having to call or text the number first.

Since you can sync contacts by groups, my suggestion would be to create a group specifically for the iPhone, and move the appropriate contacts to that group. Then you can set up syncing for that group only in iTunes.
When you add new contacts on the Mac, add them to the appropriate group to be synced or not.
Contacts App...hit the "+" sign...upper right...add the info...tap "Done" when finished.
Thanks! I don't seem to have the + sign, and the manual says to make sure I'm not using an LDAP, CalDAV, or GAL contact list. How do I do that, or how do I change that?
Are you on the computer or phone?
Both are at hand, but the contacts problem is for my phone on its own.
I don't know the answer if you want to use the phone but can't find the + sign.
In that case, why not just use the computer to enter the new contact and my sync suggestion above?
