How to tell if my iPod is dying?

Been enjoying my iPod classic for about five years. Recently noticed it will click during songs as if I had touched control wheel. Sometimes wheel will fight with me when trying to move down list of options; will overshoot mark or jerk to different options by itself. Today in the middle of a song the volume suddenly dropped to almost zero, then another battle with the wheel to get vol up to normal. Time to replace it? Tempted to shop on Amazon but don't know if someone else has better prices.

Try the 5R's > iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant

If resetting, restarting, restoring, etc., doesn't help, if you have yet to replace the battery, that may make a difference.

My 20GB Classic still runs like a top.
