Using CrossOver games to play SilkRoad

Hi!

Ok, here's the thing!

I want to play Silkroad Online on my Mac and I came across this software called CrossOver Games (I know you must know it). I've installed CrossOver Games version 10.1.1 that its supposed to work with Lion. I can install Silkroad Online but after the installation when the game loads I get this error

"failed to initialize NetEngine (error Code 5,127)". and the start button never appears on the screen. 😢

I've been checking everywhere I can. I've changed the bottle to emulate desktop, and I've made it compatible to Windows 98, but nothing seems to work!. In this website http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=5391 they say something about adding a "wine repository" and follow the instructions on the website but I am not that advanced on computers and i don't understand anything😕...

Does anyone know how to fix this issue... I really want tyo play!!.. if someone can explain this to me in plain english and give me a possible solution I appreciate it!!

Thanks! 😀

from the AppDB entry.. I'd assume something in Wine broke that game being able to run right.

Crossover 10.1.1 uses a modified Wine 1.3.9 version, which is probably why its broken, and you need to use an older version... meaning using actual Wine and not Crossover. You can also check out Wineskin, which might be a bit more difficult at times (Crossover is made much more user friendly), but has many Wine versions available, and not stuck to 1 build like Crossover is.

I have been trying very intently to play this for 2 weeks and i am getting the same error code. After hours of research i have found that there is apparently a problem with crossover or any other wine or windows emulator that it can't get past hackshield or gameguard for the games that use these anti botting devices. The error code is actually a windows registry error. The problem has been around for a long time now so apparently its not going to get fixed anytime soon. The only way i have found to be able to play on your mac is to create a windows partition, I 'm not sure if programs like vmware would work but if you are going to do that then you might as well create a partition. I hope this helps, sorry about the bad news, but if you find any other way around it please let me know.
