Hello everyone. Longtime listener, first time caller.
I can't seem to figure this one out...I have always been able to drag the URL from the bar in Safari to the desktop/folder creating a clickable bookmark in the finder. All of a sudden...it won't drag to the desktop anymore. More specifically...it won't 'stick' to the desktop

Using Safari 5.1.2 and Lion 10.7.2
I had a similar problem but worse in that I couldn't drag anything anywhere in Safari 5.1.2. Even drag in the "Customize Toolbar" dialog did not work.
I switched off extensions, quite Safari and restared. The problem cleared and has remained clear after several launches of Safari.
I only had ClickToFlash and ClickToDevonThink installed.
Yeah, it's happening on ALL of my macs with Lion (about 5 of them). I'm beginning to think there's something else going on here.
Anyone else out there having this issue?
I have had this problem also. It has been an issue long before I upgraded to lion. It is a problem with other browsers also which leads me to believe it is an OS bug. It might be caused by illegal characters in the url. Characters in the URL string that are not allowed in file names might be causing the system to reject the conversion of the url to a bookmark file.
I had no problems with Lion, but now it happens with Mountain Lion.....! Anybody found a solution?
Nope, no solution yet … but sure am looking for one … desperately
Just relauch Finder and you will be able to drag and drop the URL from anybrowser again. Here is how to relaunch finder.
Click the apple icon in the menu bar, select force quit..., then select Finder from the list and click relauch.
After this the drag and drop should start working.
Yes… thanks RandyGaddy. It is quite well-known that Finder has this bug (and others). I wouldn't call relaunching it a solution though, unless you're willing to do this every time you want to drop a URL on it.
Just had to do this on Maverick, couldn't drag from browser or downloads (likely other places as well but didn't check ..)
