How can I play all-region DVD's on a Mac?
Is it possible to play PAL and other non-NTSC DVD formats on my Mac? If so, how?
Thank you!

Just insert the DVDs. Unless you're trying to play them on a connected television, you don't need to do anything else.

But be careful; you only get five changes of region before the drive locks on the last region used.
I've not found any way of circumventing that.
If you mean Region 0 DVDs made on a computer, follow Neil's advice.
If you mean DVDs made to play in other regions than your own, heed noondaywitch's warning, and use the free application VLC instead of DVD Player which will not change your region setting:
So if I have VLC open on my Mac and pop a PAL DVD into the Mac, the disc will play here in the U.S. without any risk to the Mac?
Yes.
To be sure you don't accidentally open with DVD Player, go to System Preferences > CD & DVD
And set the DVD setting to either "ignore" or Other Application > VLC
Hi,
I have been using VLC on my Mac. Sometimes it works and sometimes not... I wish i could figure out why it doesn't always work.
I have DVDs which are legally purchased from England and Australia because those were the only copies of shows that i liked. Some work, some don't.
Has anyone figured out a good solution to the problem without messing with your drive?
