Trying to fill out 2012 FAFSA for daughter's financial aid for college and none of my up to date browsers are compatible: Chrome, Safari, Firefox. They seem to only want older versions of all browsers so I have no idea what to do. Can anyone help?mpatible

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/options.htm loads and displays links to the forms, so I haven't a clue why your having issues. 10.6.8 and Safari 5.0.5. Didn't try to login, since I minimize dealing with federal stuff.

Whenever I encounter that, I just try to use the site anyhow, and almost always there is no problem. Not a very technical answer, but it usually works.

I had the same thing happen to me so I called the FASFA people..........get this........they do not have the forms ready for the most recent browsers!!!!! So much for us keeping up to date with things to try and be secure, as for the feds, they are behind and do not seem to willing to catch up. Made me really question if I wanted to submit a form with SS numbers and the such.

Sorry, I forgot to add that the woman told me to "file in paper form or go to the Library and use a computer there". I guess she knows that the library will have an older version of a browser on hand.

Despite what they may have told you, the forms are there:

@balto - You are correct in that the forms show up but once I clicked on them they wouldn't open so I called and talked to the FASFA rep. It was then that I was told the form was not supported in the Safari or Foxfire I am using. Appears that the Feds are not keeping up with the updates of the browsers.

I can understand if you couldn't create an account and log in. You'll have to wait until tomorrow to contact them. As I noted, I no problem getting the form to display or downloading it.

I just talked to them online. They said that the website does not support OSX 10.7.2 How ridiculous is that?

Have you tried using Safari in User Agent mode?

Go to Safari>Preferences>Advanced tab and select 'Show Develop menu in menu bar'. From the Develop Menu select User Agent and try selecting one of the browsers that should work. I believe this puts Safari in an emulation mode that sometimes makes awkward sites play ball.
