does apple tv work with SKY GO?

Maybe a stupid question, but why don't you just watch Sky Sports directly on your TV as you are a subscriber?

You don't need to be a subscriber to Sky's TV satellite services to subscribe to Sky Go. Sky Go is their streaming services for computers / devices and has it's own subscriptions. Perhaps the OP doesn't have the TV service?

To the OP: Sky have not enabled the video element of AirPlay / mirroring in their Sky Go app, although why not is anybody's guess (greedy restrictions?)

This is probably the reason Sky Go will never work on Airplay. You would then be able to stream it anywhere. Big shame as I'd like to do this in an upstairs room where there is no Sky connection but where I have an Apple TV 2.

I think you do need to be a Sky TV subscriber to get Sky GO.

Exactly correct. If it worked on AirPlay, you could use it on any TV. It's use is restricted to 2 devices.

You don't. Sky Go allows you to buy what they call a monthly ticket which gives you access directly on your computer / devices without the need of a TV subscription.

Can you post a link on that? Anything I've seen suggests that a TV subscription is required.

OK, I've found something on it, but the price seems to be about the same as normal sub prices. Not sure why anyone would buy it.

I think the point here is that as a sky subscriber you get sky go for free.

AirPlay doesn't work with sky go for obvious reasons, as it's also possible to block mirroring from working, sky may have already blocked that, but I really don't know.

There is no mirroring on Sky GO either. You only get audio. Same for other similar apps and many streaming web sites.

I've not found any apps or sites that don't work with mirroring (although I know there are some), are you sure you aren't talking about basic AirPlay.

No, I don't mean basic AirPlay. There are some apps (like Sky GO) which just don't allow mirroring. When you launch them in mirroring, they go straight into AirPlay and come up with a message that says something like 'HDMI output not supported'.

Unfortunately, I can't remember which ones!

I know there are some, but you implied there were many and it was quite common, which was the part I was questioning.

I didn't imply 'common', and there are quite a few instances of video streaming sites that I have come across in the past that don't allow mirroring.

As I said, I just can't recall at the moment which they are. If I've got time later, I'll look into it.
