I purchased an HDMI cable and connected it to a Toshiba HD TV with HDMI jacks. The MacBook recognizes the TV but am getting no display on the TV. HDMI settings have been set on the TV and I have mirrored the display on the Mac, but still no TV display?

Mirroring forces your Mac to use a compromise resolution that often does not yield a picture on the HDMI display.
Turn Mirroring OFF.
Make certain the Mini DisplayPort end of the adapter is inserted into the MacBook until essentially ALL the metal part disappears.
As GBA says, turn mirroring off. And have you checked the Displays system preferences to make sure you chose the proper resolution (720p, 1080i, or 1080p)? Did you check the refresh rate (probably 60Hz, maybe 120Hz)?
Note since you cannot see an image on your TV to immediately answer those questions I asked you need to click the Gather Windows button in the Displays preferences to get the TV's display preferences window on to your main screen. Also probably wouldn't hurt to click Detect Displays either.
