how do i add a footnote

If you're doing a lot of foot notes, like in an academic paper, doing each that way gets a bit tedioius. You can actually add a shortcut to make it more convenient. In System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts, go under "Application Shortcuts" and press the "+" button. Select the application, "Footnote" (in Pages) and type the shortcut you want (I like option-command-F).
