how to use remote disc for games

trying to play Sim 3. After downloading disc software and updates the game does not recognize the remote disc so it won't start game

According to this Apple support article, you may not be able to use it with the game.

Quote from the article: "Note: If a disc is copy-protected (such as some DVD movies and games), you can’t share it using DVD or CDsharing."

The purpose of remote disc is to install software.

You could use an external superdrive.
