Connecting iPad2 to Win7 64bit (USB)?

Can anyone help me by indicating where I can download a driver for the iPad2 for my Win7 machine?

I see loads of discussion on the boards referring to knowledge articles (none of which work for me) but nowhere that refers me to a working driver.

My iPad seemed to stop connecting shortly after it ran out of warranty. Apple require me to take out extended warranty at cost before they even will talk to me. This is the first product that I've ever encountered where connectivity drivers aren't supplied free-of-charge for download on a support site.

I'm at the position now that my iPad2 is effectively useless - I cant upgrade to IOS5; cant update paid-for Apple apps requiring 5; cant sync to iTunes.

Does your iPad still charge? If so then it's not likely a hardware issue but software.

have you tried to uninstall/reinstall iTunes? Also look in the control panel and uninstalling programs and remove the apple mobile device driver before you reinstall iTunes.

You can also try simply switching out different usb ports (sometimes plugging a device into a 'new to it' USB port triggers the driver install)

Basically you just need to get iTunes to see your ipad.

Thanks for suggestion Diavonex and backup Skydiver.

Disabled and restarted Apple Mobile Device Service. Driver still wouldn't install successfully.

Followed advice of http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567 and disabled all startup items except for iTunes & QuickTime (and Kaspersky which won't allow me to disable it). Rebooted, and still getting:

"Device driver was not successfully installed.

Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed,

Apple Mobile Device USB Driver X Failed"

No advice, but I'm having the same issue. I cannot connect either of two iPads to iTunes (iPad 2 and Mini, using different cables).

However my iPhone 5S works fine. When connecting an iPad the PC trys to downld an iPad driver, which fails. The iPhone 5S just connects directly to iTunes, as it should.

I have reinstalled iTunes and all other Apple software, including drivers and restarted Apple Mobile Device.

The iPad driver install fails with the same error you are seeing. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit, it worked fine before.
