Shuffle songs in playlist while using Fitness app

I like to create playlists of songs that are good for running to, and then playing them on shuffle in order to avoid monotony from running to the same songs in the same order each time I work out. I used to do this easily with my old nano and the Nike+ chip and adapter set.

However, I can't figure out how to shuffle the songs on a select playlist from within the Fitness app on my new 6g Nano - only to shuffle all songs on the iPod.

A cumbersome workaround is to start playing a playlist on shuffle via music, then enter the Fitness app and select "now playing" as the music source - but this seems stupid, and counter to Apple's ease-of-use policies.

Am I missing something?

How can I shuffle a particular playlist while running and using the Fitness app?

Thanks.

Before opening the fitness app, go to now playing, scroll to the middle screen and click on the shuffle icon on the right. It should turn blue. When you go into the fitness app, your playlist will shuffle. I found that out while trying to get mine to stop shuffling. VERY ANNOYING. I wish they would put shuffling functions directly in the fitness app.
