eMac upgrades

Okay i have had me eMac for YEARS. Just tought instead of keeping it collecting dust upstairs i could actually use it.

Now the plan is to have my eMac as a music on comp.

My first point is i need Itune 10.5 to be able to connect to my Iphone.

So i need to upgrade the OS. 10.5 and then upgrade to 10.5.8 i have seen. Okay should be able to cope with that.

The Hard drive is only 80GB what is the largest i can get for the eMac?

Machine Model: PowerMac6,4

CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (1.1)

CPU Speed: 1.25 GHz

L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB

Hello,

Not much you can do to upgrade, but it will hold up to 2 GB of RAM/Memory.

The Internal Disk is ATA & the largest ever made were 750 GB, but are hard to replace.

An External Firewire drive of up to 2.2 TB would work.

A question I have to ask is, how comfortable are you working with computers?

The eMac uses a CRT tube display, which is why it's egg-shaped.

Would you be comfortable working with a computer like this, knowing the CRT can act as a giant capacitor when the computer is off? The hard drive is separated from the analog assembly by the logic board, but it still freaks some people out.

The final revision of eMac had an option for a 160GB HDD, although I suspect you could put in an even bigger one.

Before upgrading it to 10.5, realize you'll loose Classic compatibility, but not lose the presence of booting into 9, if it already is available through Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Startup Disk.

Also recognize some iPhones don't need iTunes 10. See this tip:
