Plus "+" button missing from iPad calendar app

I bought an iPad 2 few days ago, and its calendar app is missing the add button (the plus "+" button) at the lower right corner. I tried resetting, rebooting, restarting the iPad. None of that worked. From browsing the questions reporting the exact same problem in this community and solutions suggested, it appears that the only solution is to use the iCloud.

Is there any other way to rectify this problem? I do not wish to be forced to use iCloud, only to have the plus button on my calendar app, which should have been there in the first place.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

I tried resetting,

Did you try resetting to factory defaults?

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

You won't lose any data as a result of a reset.

Then restart the iPad.

Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

iCloud is unrelated to the + sign for Calendars. iCloud is for syncing and storing data.
