Older macbook pro connecting to HDMI?

I've got a older Macbook Pro and I'm looking to connect it to my digital TV. I've seen the adaptor but my computer doesn't have that spot to plug in. Does anyone have any info on this? I've been searching around but can't figure it out.

Thanks!

All non-unibody MBPs have dual-link DVI video-out ports, so you will need a DVI-to-female-HDMI adapter and a standard HDMI cable. But the MBP's DVI port does not output an audio signal (because DVI doesn't carry audio), so you'll need to make a separate audio connection from the Mac's headphone port to the RCA stereo audio inputs on your TV set, and the TV set will have to be capable of receiving separate audio and video signals. In other words, you'll need to set the TV to recognize video input via one of its HDMi ports and audio via its analog audio inputs. That will be done in the TV set's menu system, if the TV permits it. Be aware that there may be a particular HDMI port on the TV that you must use, because it is internally paired with those audio inputs. See the TV's manual for instructions.

You may also need to select the TV as the sound output device in the Sound pane of System Prefs on the Mac.
