No. Details on your issues would be helpful.
I have a new MacbookPro. I migrated files from a previous Macbook running OSX 10.6. Whe I attempt to open any of my Adobe Creative Suite files or when I simply open my desktop, I get a message saying I need Java Runtime. I attempt to download it and it loads a disc image file. When I attempt to open it, I get a message saying it can't be opened because it's "not recognized". I attempted to download Java for OSX Lion from the Apple website and get the same message.
Then, reinstall Lion and try again, using the Java Preferences app.
I have the same problem. It is not possible to launch the "Java Preferences" app. When I do, I get the error message:
'To open “Java Preferences,” you need to install a Java runtime, but you are not connected to the Internet.'
I am *most certainly* connected to the internet, since I'm posting to this forum. 🙂
Try using an ethernet connection. Just plug an ethernet cable into your router and Mac. You can leave WiFi on. Then try the update again.
If the above doesn't work try downloading the Java Update from Apple.
