Q: HOW TO SYNC YOUR RINGTONES TO THE iPHONE

1. Open iTunes and make sure that your iPhone is connected to your computer.

2. Click on DEVICES -> APPS -> scroll down to FILE SHARING -> highlight the tones you wish to sync -> click on the SAVE TO button at the bottom and save this, for easy access, to a file (maybe title it My Ringtones) on your desktop.

3. Go back to LIBRARY -> and drag your tones, from your desktop file, to the (bell icon) TONES (this took the place of the RINGTONES tab under DEVICES -> APPS, if you are not showing this icon then go to EDIT -> PREFERENCES -> GENERAL tab and make sure that the TONES box is checked).

4. Click on the arrow just left of the name of your device. You will see a list of folders.

5. Drag your ringtones to the (bell icon) TONES.

6. Check on your iPhone -> Settings -> Sounds and the new ringtones should be at the top.

Apple Solution! Simply said, is to download Cocaomug Software's iRingtones  version 1.1.1 from www.cocoamug.com/iringtones which by the way, is a seamless and efficient solution for iPhone 5.

I think someone who is Apple Traditional would benefit from this discussion more quickly to keep Apple software in the Macintosh environment instead of resorting to 'Microsloth foolishness' as a solution to iTunes ringtones.

Boy, I can't wait until the new features for iOS 7 are installed on my mobile device next month. It only gets great.

    Enjoy the age of Apple,

One thing is that this is an Apple forum in which you have entered, another is Cheap imitation Samsung devices are not what bring out the best in today's pocket computer savy demands, concurrently. And incedently, Theme My Phone app by Funsail also has

which too, is an seamless process for those whom use other Apple devices. Without language hang-ups or techno-bable afflictions.

I have the tones tab, and I made a new file folder on my desktop for songs I want for ringtones, but it won't let me add them to the tones ring tab.

Glad to see I'm not alone but I got it ...finally. (this may be the long way but I assure you it works)

1.) Change folder option to show file extensions. (For Windows 7, it is in control panel, folder options). You want to make sure the box that says Hide extensions for known file types in UNchecked. It's important because if you are like me you were changing the file but it's not really changing unless you can see the extension.,

2.) Download your ringtones and put them somewhere where you will remember (like desktop). Make sure it is under 30 seconds in length.

3.) Open iTunes and go to Music, not tones.

4.) Use the file button on top and select add file to library. Find your file, select it and you will see that the file is there under music.

5.) Right click it and select creat AAAC Version.  The new version will come up underneath as the second entry.

6.) Right click the second entry and select show in windows explorer. The entry will be highlighted and will have at the end .m4a.

7.) Right click it to rename and change .m4a to .m4r and minimize file.

8.) Go back to iTunes and right click each entry.  Select delete. If you get a pop up asking to cancel, put in recycle bin or keep file - - select keep file. Sometimes I just get delete, sometimes the choice.

9.) Go back to windows explorer - the same place where you changed the file extension and that you had minimized and double click the file that you renamed to .m4r.

10.) It will automatically add itself into iTunes into the tones portion. You can click it to check or just go to next step.

11.) In iTunes, click your iPhone on the upper right and then tones which is on the bar in the middle..

12.) Right on top there is a box to check to sync tones. Click it and then click the box on the bottom right to sync to your phone.

Boom - the tone is in your phone.

I do not why it is so complicated and there must be an easier way but if you do it this way it will work.

Hope it works for you.  If you find an easier way, please post.

It is right there when you go to iTunes. You might have your menu bar hidden. In the top left corner there is small arrow. You can click that to show menu bar or just go straight to preferences from there..

EpicCal....in Itunes, on the menu bar, select Itunes > Preferences >General, check the "tones" box >Okay.

Back to the Itunes screen with the "Bell" for Tones - do you have your ringtone in it?

Find the image for your Iphone or the folder beside the Iphone image to the right on this Itunes screen. Click either the folder or the image but don't eject the image. Make sure the Sync box is checked.
