i've tried it all: hard reset, restore, nothing happens. it just spins and turns on again.

the only thing that worked is to plug it in to a power source. then it seems to turn off. but once i unplug it, it turns on again.

I'm having the exact same problem. My phone just won't turn off. It remains off when plugged in, though.

I've tried resetting it while plugged in to a wall outlet. I've tried resetting it while not plugged into a wall outlet. I've even completely restored my phone. Nothing worked.

I setup a repair service online and Apple sent me a shipping box in the mail to put my phone in and send out. Hopefully they can fix it and make it wonderful again.

Just an update to my previous post. The problem was unfixable. I disagree with the explanation I was given. I shouldn't have bothered wasting my time and sending my phone in. At least my phone works fine and there are no other problems. I've come to the conclusion that not being able to turn it off isn't that big of a deal.

If you have tried The Basic Troubleshooting Steps of:

Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup... Restore as New...

and are still having issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first..
