Out of no where my ipad screen went black. I locked my screen and sat it down to charge. An hour later I try to unlock it and nothing but a black screen. I held down the home and power button but i see nothing but a black screen no apple logo! any suggestions? help!

i tried to restore in itunes because it shows up and nothing changed still the same outcome. I can unlock and hear things but can't see anything
Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

How long did you hold it down for? Doing a reset should fix it. I have seen it take anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds.
I held it down for over 30 seconds and nothing! when i plug it into itunes it reconigizes it fine!
