MacBook Pro not detecting HDMI display

Hi all,

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 13" running Lion 10.7.2 and wish to connect it to my Samsung LCD HD TV.

I got a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter from Apple and through the thunderbolt port tried to connect to my TV using a HDMI cable. When I connect the cable to the MacBook the screen goes blue for a few seconds then comes back and just looks the same, no prompts or anything. The TV says "no signal" although it does give me the HDMI2 option when selecting source which doesn't happen unless something is connected.

So I have also been into the display preferences on the MacBook and hit detect displays - NOTHING :-(.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there perhaps something else I need to change/update in my preferences?

Any help would be great. I bought the 13" on the basis I would be hooking up to my TV most of the time. If I cant get it to work im pretty stuffed :-(

Thanks

Bill
