Track Display on iTunes upon importing CD

I asked a similar question last night, but now have some more insight as to the cause of the issue and wondering if anyone has possible solutions...

I'm importing commercial/store bought CDs. Most import and appear in iTunes just fine. By that I mean each track appears on a single line in iTunes.

Some however take up 3 lines but only 1 line has the song info. That takes up space, looks clunky.

I have noticed it is only happening when I import Compilation type discs (Best of Soft Rock, Great Golden Oldies, that sort of thing). Upon import, they show as Compilation in the Artist part of column browser. I have been going in and unchecking Compilation under the Get Info tab for each track. Reason being is that I want each artist to show up in the top section so I know what all artists I have in my library. After that, Artist in column browser show the way i want it.

But, when I uncheck Compiliation, that is when the track listing goes from taking up one line to taking up 3 lines.

Any suggestions on how I can see these track listings appear on just a single line?
