I cant delete my apps from my ipad2

I am not able to uninstall apps from my iPad 2. When I press and hold an app (one that I installed) all apps dont jiggle. However, I tried restarting and syncing but neither helped.

Have you set restrictions to prevent apps from being removed ? i.e. is Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps set 'off' ?

This is what people saying. But i dont have RESTRICTIONS in my general.

I have seen this happen before. I'm guessing that you bought a store demo model. Stores will often remove settings from the device so that customers cannot make changes. You should have a setting for restrictions in general settings. Could this be a possibility in your case? If it is, return the iPad and ask for a new one.

King Penguin, is referring to your email accounts. If you do not have an Exchange email account, then that is probably not the issue.

Did you buy the iPad from a store or did you buy it online? It is possible for the store to wrap and seal the box again.

I'm not saying that my assumption is correct - maybe I made it sound that way and I apologize if I did. I just went through a very similar discussion with another user earlier this week who could not delete apps and it turned out that he did in fact buy a store demo and that was why he did not have restrictions on his iPad either and he could not delete apps.

Exchange based email accounts can affect settings on the iPad - sometimes the administrator forces a passcode to be used on it, prevents apps being installed, encrypts the backup etc.

If you haven't got an Exchange email account on the iPad, and it's not a store demo model, then have you tried closing the Settings app completely and seeing if it shows Restrictions when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Settings 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Settings app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
