I can't log in to FaceTime for Mac on my Macbook.

Question

I can't log in to FaceTime for Mac on my Macbook.

I have an active Apple ID, but when I am prompted to provide my e-mail address, I get the following message: Unable to verify “[my e-mail address is my Apple ID]” because it is already in use by another Apple ID.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I am unable to edit any preferences, because "Preferences" in Facetime is greyed out.

nope. I also added "88.8..." and 88.44..." to my DNS setting and rebooted. Nichts. Nada. Rien.
