Assuming your router is already set-up, click on the wi-fi icon on the menu bar and pick the network name from the list. If it does not show on the list select Join Other Network.
My Macbook Pro connects to everything but it says "failed" next to the Internet and server icons.
Where are you seeing the internet and server icons???!!!! Can you connect to the internet using an ethernet cable connected between your Mac and your Westell router?
Look on the outside of the modem/router case for a number or letter+number combo that says something like Wireless WPA/WPA2 key.
Then when you click on the wireless connection for that device, SSID name which should also be on the outside of the modem/router case, it will ask you for the security key. Type in what that # or letter # is and click Connect.
If that works you really need to WIRE, using an Ethernet cable, your computer to that box, logon to it and change everything. Routers main password, Wireless SSID name and Wireless password.
