Q: Aperture with NAS
Hi,
New to a Mac, and had been trying to use iPhoto.
My issue is that I have a NAS with all photos on, I've bought a MacBook Air with 128gb SSD so don't really want to be storing a lot locally.
iPhoto didn't seem to meet my requirements, as it was all or nothing... i.e. Library either locally or remotely. Locally - my photo directory is 120gb... so no room locally. Remotely - its not very fast as I use the air over wireless.
I read a few sites and it seems that Aperture might work for me, as I can have the master photos on NAS and thumbnails etc locally.
I ideally want to use the application to view photos, tag faces and locations, print photos, make books etc - there will not be that much editing going on. Additionally, I will be copying my photos manually to my NAS initially and then importing from there into Aperture.
I've downloaded the 30 day trial, but not sure how to accomplish what I need!?
Thanks in advance
Peter
