Why are my iTunes music purchases not on my iPad and iPhone?

I have purchased music in the iTunes store on my MBA, but the purchased songs are not showing up on my iPad or iPhone?

On the iPhone and iPad...



Tap Settings > Store


Toggle Music off then back on then restart the devices.


Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
