Anyone know what the ideal (exact) size a photo should be for the contact list on the iPhone?

That's what I'm trying to get around. I know the correct size to use for album cover artwork on my iPod and created a PhotoShop template. I wanted to do the same thing for my iPhone contacts to speed the process up. I don't know what the actual screen size of the iPhone is. There must be an exact size a person can use for contact photos?
A late answer, in case anyone stumbles into this thread. I'm working with Contacts on an iPad Mini 2, an iPhone 6 Plus, and a MacBook Pro. For all intents and purposes, I have discovered this, keeping in mind Apple's size limit of 224K for the image file. Leave a ratio of about 60% between the largest dimension of the actual "avatar" (face, logo, whatever) and its background. E.g., a 312px avatar to a 512px image. Leave it for the moment in Photos. Go to Contacts, edit the target, and its image. Pick up the desired image from Photos. Center and resize as appropriate, leaving a little breathing room in the circle. Voila! Save the Contact. (Propagates to other devices.) You may now delete the item from Photos and all is right with the world. You may now talk among yourselves.
You can always adjust it if it's too small or large.
Well, it's hard to say since they are digital. There lots of discussions see to the left "More Like This" as well as on the net. When you get a call the photo will fill the entire screen.
