Why Aperture do not support mpeg format?

I have bought the Aperture 3 recently and I sadly found that the videos that can see in iPhoto are impossible in Aperture 3, is this right?, I am doing something wrong? thanks for any help from argentina!

Hello Allan, thanks for your answer.

But I really do not want to look for my camara type in that link... I am a common user that do not need to know about formats and codecs.

Simple: iPhoto can handle my camara´s video format Aperture NOT!!

Simple question: why a new software (Aperture) can not work better that the old one (iPhoto)? I bought a Aperture assuming that I could do or see the same things, but unfortunatly not...

You are responsible for knowing the limitations of software you purchase, and for determining if it meets your needs.

Aperture is not a "new" version of iPhoto. They are different programs designed by different engineers for different uses and different users.

The first thing to find out is if your camera's video format is supported by Aperture. Is it? You can find out by following Allan's perfect advice.
