New MBP15 > Thunderbolt > TV hdmi, no sound?

Just bought the new MacBook Pro 15" and the Thunderbolt 27" display.

Problem:

Can't get MBP Audio out via the Thunderbolt port > minidisplay port > HDMI (v1.4 cabel) to TV or Projector.

Tested:

- MBP Video > Thunderbolt port > Minidisplay-adapter > Works ok.

- MBP Audio > Thunderbolt port > Minidisplay-adapter > no sound, just video.

- MBP Audio > Thunderbolt display works ok, both video & sound.

- MBP Audio > Headphones works ok.

- Checked the system preferences > Sound out and it's ok (not much to choose).

Any ideas if this actually SHOULD work? Thank's :-)

Thank's guys for all the suggestions, but;

- I can get out the videosignal but not the sound (MBP -> HDMI).

- HDMI cabel is HDMI version 1.4 (support sound, 3D etc).

- MBP -> HDMI adapter is Apple's own, bought i late december 2011 (latest? Should support hdmi 1.4 (sound)).

- The HDMI cabel does work fine for a number of other items in my setup.

Could it maybe get "lost in translation"?

My setup: MBP -> Apple HDMI-adapter -> HDMI cabel v1.4 -> Pioneer VSX 1021 (Rec./Amp.) -> HDMI TV.

I'll try to go directly from the MBP -> Apple HDMI-adapter -> HDMI TV tonight and see if that's maybe the case.

Had the same problems. The System Preferences doesnt do much when I go into sound and select the HDMI cable. But what did work for me was plugging the HDMI with converter into the thunderbolt display, going to Utilities --> Audio MIDI Setup, "right" click HDMI cable and select Use This Device for Sound Output. Worked like a charm for me.
