Safari keeps crashing

So I got ios 5 for my ipod 4 and 2 months after downloading it, safari started crashing. It only crashed a couple times a day, then it started crashed every 30 seconds of usage. And if that wasn't enough, the crashing would eventually infect my Google app and that's crashing too. Then Youtube started crashing a couple times but not often. I'm seriously thinking about going to get a new ipod or just save up $200 to get an ipad. If anyone could tell me how to solve this, it would be greatly appreciated.
