AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi

Cannot upgrade ITunes due to program required could not be run. Further efforts indicate that applesoftwareupdate.msi is missing. Is there a safe download of this missing file anywhere?

I have had this problem before and had to completely delete all apple programs and reload. It then double loaded all of my songs which was a nightmare to fix. As such I would rather not do that again.

Any help is appreciated!

Windows 7, Current ITunes software 10.4.1.10

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the User uploaded file thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.

Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

When I went to the link you provided I was told that the application was no longer available and directed to Microsoft Fix It. Microsoft Fix It did remove the file and then dowloaded the correct file to FIX IT.

The ITunes new software upgrade then loaded without me having to delete everything and start over.

So thanks for sending me in the right direction.
