Is there a way to keep iPad from going to sleep?

My technophobe friend loves her iPad! She wants to keep an aquarium app or a clock/weather app on while it's charging in her iHome dock. It keeps turning off on her. She says it's intermittent and unpredictable. We cannot find a setting to prevent it going to sleep. Is there a way to do that? How?

We set the auto-lock to never. That prevents the auto-lock screen from coming on but it does not prevent the iPad from going to sleep.

The display shuts off with auto-lock on never and it's not because the battery runs down since it's on a charger.

Is there another hidden setting or an app that prevents it from shutting down. I haven't tried keeping mine on yet but I can see at some point I'll want to have my photos on a slideshow and have it run for my entire work shift or longer. Is there a setting that determines how quickly the iPad goes to sleep if inactive or a way to prevent sleep mode?

Thanks, that what I thought. I will experiment with mine and I've told my friend to keep hers on again too.

As for the cluster of identical responses: they came in instantly and simultaneously. They were all answering at the same time. I think it was just a matter of having several helpful people online at once and the fact that I failed to mention we'd done that already.
