Emailing photos from IPad 2 not working.

I know how to email photos from the IPad 2, but it is not working on my new replacement. Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong?

Assuming that your email is working fine other wise ..... I have no idea as to why it isn't working, but have you tried any basic troubleshooting steps to try to correct it?

Quit the photos and mail apps and restart the iPad.

In order to quit or close apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button. The task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. If you are using multitasking gestures in iOS 5 - you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the task bar. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus ➖ sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Try a reset.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Didn't work. I addressed a photo to myself to check if it's working, but didn't get an email, with or without a photo. My husband and sons who are Apple people were convinced I would love the IPad, but it is so hard to usve. I was pretty much only using it to email and for my photos, so if that doesn't work, I am Stuck. But I think there must be some setting that I don't know about that came on this replacement, and if I could only "flip the switch" it would work again. I envy people who can spend hours "playing" and figuring out the intricacies. Thanks for your suggestion.

Did you try to send an email to yourself - without any attachments? Have you been able to send or receive any emails at all since you set up your email account?

You might find this site to be of some help.

Or maybe this one will help.

My advice is if you can't send or receive any email at all, you should probably delete the email account and start all over again.

Linda,

It is indeed frustrating when things go differently than one expects and seemingly for no reason.

In your most recent post you say you do not use the Mail app. But when your in Photo and attempt to email a photo your iPad will use the Mail app to send that photo. This is why Demo suggested sending an email, using the Mail app, to yourself to verify that it is indeed working. If the email without any attachments goes through to you then there is something else definitely wrong. But I'm suspecting that you might not have the Mail app set properly with your email password, smtp outgoing server, etc. once Mail is working to send photos you do not need to use it for anything else and can continue to use your hotmail account in Safari.

Thank you for your very considerate answer. You were right! I spent the evening setting up the MAIL app. Immediately my inbox was flooded with responses from friends and family who had just received all my photos. Thanks for being so kind in explaining. If I was a technical whiz, I wouldn't be asking for help.

But now my regular Hotmail on Safari won't respond. I can open each email, but cannot reply to or forward or delete them. It's always something, isn't it? Did I unset something when I set the Mail app?

Any way, thanks again. You have a real gist for helping.
