Open the internet browser of your choice, Safari is in the system, Go to whatever website you want to buy and or download a program from. Click on the link to download it, it will default to the Downloads folder. Once it has finished downloading, it may be a DMG or a ZIP file, double click on it. If it's a ZIP file it will expand into a DMG file, or maybe a .APP file. If a DMG file or the ZIP expands into a DMG file then double click on that and follow the on screen prompts and instructions.

If a ZIP or DMG file and it expands into a .APP file just drag it to your Application folder.

Your done, program installed.

i got the program to download, but it downloads a a pkg.tar and shows a box in front of a zip, i believe representing a zipped file. when i click on that, it opens up and asks me to input password as if to download. it then apears to download, but its not showing on my computer anywhere. when i drag it to apps, it brings the same box and zipper icon there and does the same thing as if i clicked on it before i placed it in apps.
