Jan 9, 2012 9:39 PM in response to TideMasterby ChrisJ4203,Some users have reported that connecting the iPhone to some vehicle stereo systems is not working anymore since upgrades. It has to do with some incompatability between the bluetooth profiles in the car and the phone. See if the vehicle manufacturer has an update to the bluetooth software for the stereo. Since you do not list the type of vehicle or stereo, it is difficult to be sure if this might apply to you.

Jan 10, 2012 5:15 AM in response to ChrisJ4203by TideMaster,I'm sorry - I should have been more specific. I'm connecting via usb to a factory stereo in a 2005 VW Touareg. There is no bluetooth involved. It worked great until the update. Now, it doesn't recognize it at all. I tried it with my ipod and it works fine, so I'm sure it must be something with the update.

Jan 10, 2012 9:55 AM in response to TideMasterby ChrisJ4203,I'm sorry, I cannot address connecting with the USB. Maybe someone else can answer, or you can try a search with USB connect and see if that gets you any hits. Good luck.

Jan 23, 2012 2:23 PM in response to TideMasterby Mitch_71,I am having the same issue. My 07 Volvo S60R no longer recognizes my iPhone 4 since the update to 5.0.1. The iPhone will charge, it just wont play any music. My car does not have bluetooth either. I am connecting to a factory radio thru a USA Spec adapter.
It is odd that my iPod and my friends iPhone 4S both connect and play with no issues.

Mar 18, 2014 9:31 AM in response to lowmerc1by ChrisJ4203,If the car stereo has a setup screen, and if you can, have her remove her phone from the list, and also remove the car from the list on her phone and then re-pair the devices again. You can also use the information in this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581 or this one http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1664

Mar 18, 2014 1:03 PM in response to lowmerc1by ChrisJ4203,Okay, now you are telling a little more. Are you trying to connect this device via Bluetooth, or with plugging in the USB cable? It makes a difference.

Mar 18, 2014 3:43 PM in response to ChrisJ4203by lowmerc1,Yes, There's a seperate cable that we had to buy from the deal to work with our Iphones. When We plug it into our phones it connects to the radio system, usually says reading Ipod and plays our music, but with the update on the one phone it just says connecting... Thanks for your help.

Mar 18, 2014 4:43 PM in response to lowmerc1by ChrisJ4203,Then you need to check with the vehicle dealer/manufacturer to see if there is an update for their system or to the manufacturer's cable.

Mar 18, 2014 5:30 PM in response to TideMasterby lowmerc1,Pretty sure it's the new software update 7.1 that's the issue. She just updated her phone and now it doesn't work in the car. I have not updated yet and my phone works fine. Pretty sure it's nothing to do with the cable, thanks though.

Mar 18, 2014 8:14 PM in response to lowmerc1by ChrisJ4203,Updates done to the phone can affect connections to vehicles, and it is something vehicle manufacturers have to keep up with. It is not unusual for these things to happen, that is why I recommended that you check with the dealer/manufacturer to see if they still support the latest iOS update. It could require a software update on their end, or a change in cables. Many cables are specific for devices, depending on the radio set.

Its seems that a lot of people are having this issue with the new iOS 7.1, myself included. I can no longer connect my iPhone 4s to my car stereo via USB. I've tried different cables and nothing works, all of which BTW are official apple cables. Whenever I plug it in it just says "No Song" on my stereo display screen.
My girl friend also has an iPhone 4s, which hasn't been updated to 7.1 and it connects to my car, so the issue is definitely with the software update.
