My husband's iphone has been receiving messages and conversations that weren't intended for him. Why? And what can he do to fix this?

Who are they intended for?
And this can be with iMessages only, not regular SMS/MMS.
One of the messages, which was both sides of the conversation was my son's iphone and the other a message I sent from my blackberry torch to a friend. He got the message I sent to her an hour after I sent it. We are confused.
