SO apple crge an arm and a leg for their phone. they lock us in to their Itunes store.

then when the phone that we have paid for says "no sim" detected" suddenly. The store you bought the phoen from tells us that APPLE only deals with problelsm throught eh clients and not the providers...So I now have to do all the finger work to resolve the problem.

I had different NOKIA phones for 15 years and NEVER EVER had a sim card problem.......

The Iphone 5 is my first apple phone and may very well be my last........

Of course the phone goes down at the week end whe you can not call the apple care people....... So will now have to wait until monday to see if they call me back....

Very very dissapointed........ by the way, my wife has iphone 4 necver had this problem......

Another example of releasing a product befoe it is fully tested and confirmed to have alsmost no bugs???????

Hello Felipe,

Thank you for your kind advice.

However.

Iphone 5 is 1 month old !

Sim card is brand new !

Phone has never ever been dropped !

Ios is 6.1 !

When the phone is switched off and then back on it sometimes works the first time. Oher times I have to do that at least 3 or 4 times!!!

Extra to the sim card not being recognised, some call never ring, but go straight to the answering machine.

I have been to my supplier and they tell me I have to deal directly with APPLE.

My supplier has kingly givn me a spare sim card so that I can change it if this happens again....

How do you activate it... yes that is right, you have to call your supplier.... do you think that your phone sim card goes wonky, when you are next to a land line????? No that is right...it does not. So you have to find a land line in order to call your supplier so as to activate the new SIM card.

What a joke.... Iphone5 the best phone in the world...... The jury is definately out on that one......

If next time round when the SIM card is changed there are still bugs.... I will go back to another brand, which may not have the street cre of an Iphone....... but you know what......at least its primary function... to be a phone... woks ALL of the time......

Anyway I await the phone call back from APPLE next week, since I have booked in an appt with them callling me back.... that is of course if the SIM card has not gone off again......

The activation if the SIM card policy is decided by the carrier. Maybe you got a bum phone; it happens. Your phone is still under warranty so the problem will be sorted out.

I do not understand why your supplier is saying you have to go to Apple for service. Where are you located and is your supplier an authorized Apple reseller?

PS Have you tried restarting the phone by holding both the home button and the lock/ sleep button at the same time until the Apple logo appears?

I have to ask this on this thread because the iPhone 3g thread is ARCHIVED! I hate how you don't support older models! Okay.. my 3g is unlocked and does recognize a AT&T GoPhone SIM but won't activate. When I use a SIM from another carrier it shows NO SIM. Everything else works fine, but NO PHONE! I've tried every method out there but no change. What can I do? Has this phone been "Black Listed"?
Version: 4.2.1 (8C148), Model MB702LL, Firmware 05.15.04 No carrier shows and no ICCID

You're not talking to Apple. This is a user forum.

AT&T does not permit the use of pre-paid SIMs, including GoPhone plans, with the iPhone.

Where did you get this phone, exactly? Was it ever hacked to unlock it or jailbroken? Does it also show no IMEI? That's typical of a phone that has been jailbroken. A missing IMEI is unfixable. The ICCID will not show up until you have a valid SIM in the phone.

Will the phone activate with a real live AT&T SIM (not go phone) in the phone?

Since you tried to jailbreak and hack your phone, you are probally getting a phone that is malfunctioning now, no matter if you "restored" you phone to it's previous state.

In short:

1). The problems you are expereinecing are due to a possibly hacked phone

2). No support can be given here for hacked phones. You will have to find help eslewhere.
