Cannot open system preferences, error code -1712-, how to fix it?

Even if you can't open System Preferences...

Try 'force quitting" System Preferences.

Several ways to do this...

Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Force Quit. If you see System Preferences in the list, select it, then click Force Quit

You can also force quit apps using Activity Monitor located in /Applications/Utilities
