I am running 10.6.8 on my Mini.
Suddenly the screen display has enlarged itself. The picture on the desktop is now too big for the display, the menu along the top of the main window is bigger, all the finder icons are bigger and won't on the screen, and at the same time the size of the dock icons has been reduced.
Any ideas?

You probably hit (or your cat hit) alt-cmd-8 by accident.
Just hit alt-cmd-8 again, to revert - as Niel has said.

Turn off Zoom from the Universal Access and Keyboard & Mouse panes of System Preferences.

The other one to try (or try to avoid!) is - if you have a scroll wheel mouse - hold down cmd/⌘ and roll the scroll wheel back and forth...
