What kind of messages are we talking about? Emails? Texting?
Sorry I should be more clear. I mean iMessage. Eg if I were to send Ana iMessage to the persons account that is on the iPhone and iPad it will appear on the iPhone only. Bith are on iOS 5.01 both have messaging activated. The message is sent from an iPhone with ios 5.01 so is sending the message as an iMessage so I thought it should appear on both or does the phone have to be turned off or should I send the iMessage to the email address of that person if I want it to go to the iPad? I don't know however what device they are nearest to.
I hope that makes sense :-S
Perhaps this will shed light on how it works;
Up close with iOS 5: iMessage

Good find dah-veed. Basically the answer is to send the iMessage to the email address of the person that is assigned to their cloud account. It will then appear on all their devices that are assigned to that account. Once it has been read on one of the devicesit will show as read on all the devices. Thanks for your help.
De nada amigo.
