My iPhone 4s will lock up when updating apps or texting....

Does anyone have this issue? From time to time my iPhone 4s ver. will just lock up when I try to update an app or attempt to text.

Click on App Store/ Updates/ Click on the App to update/ Click on UPDATE/ The Apple ID Password screen comes up, at this point I try to type in my password and cannot. In fact I can't do anything. The Home button doesn't respond, the Power down button at top of phone doesn't respond. Eventually the phone will go into a power down cycle but it will take over 10+ min to do this and the phone starts getting hot to the touch. Once powered down I can click the Power button and it will power up again.

The iPhone has locked up when trying to text as well. Click on who I want to text/ attempt to begin typing message and the keyboard is locked up/ try to back out using Home button and cannot/ try to click the Power down button at top of phone doesn't respond. Eventually the phone will go into a power down cycle but it will take over 10+ min to do this and the phone starts getting hot to the touch. Once powered down I can click the Power button and it will power up again.

From time to time when trying to text I will experience something different before the lock up happens. Click on who I want to text/ attempt to type message and the keyboard is locked up/ click Messages button in the top left hand corner/ at this point it returns me to the text message landing page if you will, but it is blank(the list of who I have text in the past is not displaying)/ attempt to back out of this area clicking Home button or any button in this area(Edit, "type a text" button) but unable to, as the phone is locked up. The Power down button at top of phone doesn't respond. Eventually the phone will go into a power down cycle but it will take over 10+ min to do this and the phone starts getting hot to the touch. Once powered down I can click the Power button and it will power up again.

HELP.

I checked out the list of files in the Diagnostics and Usage area but didn't see anything unusual other than the normal App crashing issues...

I have this problem too. Where are the solutions? Some of these questions have been hanging out here for years without anyone answering.

Standard troubleshooting methods for the user to try are outlined in the manual and start with a power off, then back on. Next, you try a forced restart as outlined below. Also check free space on your device and make sure you have at least 2 or 3 GB if not more to make sure your apps have plenty of room to function. Post back and let me know.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up the app window until it flies off the screen.

Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
