Sorry, I've looked at lots of "duplicate" threads but not been able to solve my problem ... I have an iMac an iPhone and an iPad 2 and sextuplicate events on all 3 devices. I don't use iCloud (well I'm pretty sure I've turned it off on all devices ?

Hi John, not sure what the Birthday Calender is ... because of these dupes I've tried to keep the calender really simple ... I have only the one called 'Master ... in prefs I have 'Master' as the default and 'Show Birthday Calender' un-ticked.

How are you syncing the iMac, iPhone and iPad 2 if not by iCloud? Are you using iTunes?

Thanks for being so patient John, yes I use iTunes I found iCloud a pain, especially as whenever I tried using it I got the message "you need to upgrade and give us some money" so in iTunes I "Back up to this computer" ... in my iMac prefs iCloud is turned off as it is on all devices.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I would expect that it is the switch from syncing by iCloud to iTunes has done this. If all three machines have multiple entries your best bet would be to remove the duplicate events on one (probably your iMac) and then syncing to your other devices.
If it is more than a few dozen events I wrote an application called iCal Dupe Deleter that might help. It is free to use but if you find it useful I ask for a donation towards its development.

Thanks John, yes I guess that's the only explanation, I've deleted the dupes (only half a dozen birthdays) and the sync has worked, I'll keep a close eye on it. I have so few 'events' that I really don't NEED iCal to work but I WANT it to work so when these oddities occur I feel a need to solve them, or in this case - you to solve them.

MY CASE IS WORST
My ical is duplicating events even when is not connected to the network, nor to the iPad.
It cannot be iClouds, nor any sync fault. IT IS ICAL FAULT!
What I can do? I used teh beautiful iCal Dupe Deleter, but after few minutes the duplicates reappear again.
It seems that it happens when I add a new event ...
Just tryed again.
restored the dupe-deleted backup. Checked no dupe on all calendars
I add a new event on a calendar, and get back all duplicates in all calendares!!!

I've the same Roger's problem, with Birthday calendar duplicated twice on my "computer" ical, while iCloud shows only one entry.
I think, as you said, it's a problem generated by the switch from MobileMe to iCloud.
I've downloaded your app, but it doesn't shown the "Birthday Calendar" so I cannot remove any duplicates.
Do you have any other idea about solving the problem?

Are you able to delete the Birthday calendars?
Do you have the setting for bithday calendars turned on in iCal's Preferences? Is it turned on at icloud.com ?

I'm not able to manually delete birthday entries, and the related option OS turned on in iCal preferences.
On iCloud and iPhone the birthday calendar is correct.

Yes, they are totally removed.
Could it be a syncing problem? Should I reinitialize syncing data?
