Some Artists do not show up on "Artist" list. Why?

Question

Some Artists do not show up on "Artist" list. Why?

When I look for certain artists on my iPod Classic, the artist does not show up in the "Artist" category, but does show up in the "Album" category. Why?

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing Get Info from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod if necessary.

Now, when an album has various artists and you click the "no" compilation choice, the tracks split out into however many cuts are on the album. How do you avoid that and still have all artists show up on the "artist" list?
