delete Macbook Air HD backup

I am trying to free up space in my MacBook Air hard disk. Since my MBA is automatically backing up with Time Machine.

I wonder how to delete the backup inside the MBA HD and I have no idea why all a sudden a backup appear inside my Mac


*one possible reason i can think of, I initially have around 20 GB of songs in iTunes, since I subcripted to iTunes Match, I deleted all my songs in my MacBook Air



any expert can help??

OS X Lion- About Time Machine's "local snapshots" on portable Macs


Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder and enter or paste the appropriate command line. Press RETURN and enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed.


To turn them ON: sudo tmutil enablelocal


To turn them OFF: sudo tmutil disablelocal



Note that turning them OFF will also delete all existing snapshots.
