Problem importing photos in Aperture

Having problem importing pics from finder into Aperture. When I click import and follow the path to the folder holding pics, "processing" icon spins briefly but nothing appears on screen. Folder holds at most 100 pics so I don't think thats the problem. Problem has occurred in the past but usually clears after several attempts - not this time.

The file is on my iMac and contains mostly jpeg files. I've routinely imported from the folders but the above issue seems to be more frequent. The import window never brings the requested files. The folder names appear but can't see the files

Where is the RAW/jpeg setting? On Aperture?

Follow up based on your info. I thought I had properly downloaded a number of images properly from facebook however, when I checked them, they aren't indicated as any file type i.e. jpeg. I'll need to download them again. There are still a number of jpeg files in the folder which also don't show up and the issue has frequently occurred in the past.

I have a suggestion. Not a solution but a way to go a step further and check if the import really took place.

Select one image file and note its name, than do the import.

Now follow this way and check if the related Previews are imported into the Aperture Library.

Try going to Preview (the program), then "File→Open", then select in the sidebar "Media→Photos". If you have shared Previews (and perhaps if you have not), Aperture should show up in the pane at the top right of the dialog box. Select it, and you should see all your Previews. See if you find the one (s) recently imported...
